“The gladdest moment in human life is a departure into unknown lands.” – Sir Richard Burton
When you're faced with the question of what is missing in your life, while being surrounded with literally everything you could ever want... You sit back and ponder on the past, the present, and the future. What got you to where you are, what you're doing to maintain that life, and what can change in the blink of an eye.
In April 2018, we finally moved into our dream home. In November 2018, that home was destroyed by water in a freak accident. We looked around at everything we had. We had 2 houses, 4 cars, 3 motorcycles, 4 storage units, a warehouse, an olive oil store, and a house full of water logged furniture and melted walls. It's not hard to imagine how tough things can get when you're constantly stressed out about material objects. The more things you have, the more things that can go wrong. It felt like every month we were facing a different battle, and losing our dream home made nothing worth it anymore.
We decided, this is it. This is our turning point. No more stressing about a scratch on my car from the gardener, or the 500 year old cactus that fell on the security guys truck in our driveway. We sold or donated almost everything that wasn't destroyed in the house. No more burdens. We bought an RV and hit the road June 1, 2019. We're ready to enjoy what we worked so hard for in life. We want to learn about the formation of the Grand Canyon, what caused Mount St. Helen to erupt in 1980, why the Orcas migrate to rub their bellies in certain waters on Vancouver Island! We just want to sit back enjoy the beauty of life hand in hand...
